Teaching Philosophy
Everyone has a right to learn music, not just gifted student. To quote Albert Einstein, “Genius is 1% talent and 99% hard work.” This means that learning music needs will, effort, and process. There is no instant solution to successfully learn an instrument.
Playing the correct note and rhythm are necessary for learning piano. Yet, the students also need to learn different things in performing the repertoire, such as the harmonization, the character, and the color of the music. Scale, theory, history, sight reading, listening, aural, improvisation, and analyze music are included in the materials of my lesson. In my studio, I will help the students to understand the music through discovery learning; making them to think from their own perspective rather than simply giving the answers. That way, the students have the opportunity to be independent learners. The lesson’s activity will stimulate the creativity of students to become more active. My job is to help developing student's potential in musical knowledge and appreciation.
I will approach each student differently based on their characters, style of learnings, and abilities of playing piano. I will learn their strengths and weaknesses and adapt to it without compromising excellence. I am patient but I know the time to discipline the student. From my student’s perspective, I want to be a friendly and respected teacher for them.
